Triple R project
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Triple “R” program is the program tends to refer to the three terms often used when talking about wastes. The terms includes REUSE, REDUCE AND RECYCLE. Whereby,
REDUCING: Is the cutting back on the amount of trash (wastes) we produce.
REUSING: Involves the finding a new way to use trash so as we don’t have to throw it out.
RECYCLING: Involves using the trash to remake a new product that can be sold again.
AIMS OF THE PROGRAM
I. To create employment opportunities through solid wastes.
II. To provide education on solid waste management as well as environmental conservation.
III. Prevents both air, water and soil pollution by poor waste disposal through landfills, damping in water and burning.
IV. Reduce the greenhouse gases pollution by burning solid wastes.
V. To make the environment to be sustainable for future.
VI. To save money by reusing.
VII. To save energy.
VIII. To create awareness on the proper waste disposal
IX. To help the poor communities which suffers from the diseases caused by carbon soot from fire woods used as the only source of energy in rural areas.
BENEFITS OF THE PROGRAM TO THE ENVIRONMENT:
I. Helps to cut down the amount of wastes thrown on the environment.
II. It conserve the natural resources, landfills space and energy resources.
III. The program helps to save land and money communities who must use to dispose off wastes in landfills.
IV. Provides the great ways of eliminating wastes on the environment.
PROJECTS:
Triple “R” program has to begun with two projects though it consists many projects to be implemented such two projects are
Waste paper management.
Biogas production.
PROJECT 01: Waste Paper Management (WPM).
This project seeks on Reducing, Reusing and Recycling of waste paper so as to resolve the problems facing our environment such as pollution. The aim of this project is also protecting the environment from being destroyed due to poor waste disposal as well as to support the government’s on going campaign of making Dodoma green as well as Tanzania through let’s go green together which is the program slogan. Also this project gives awareness on how we can Reduce, Reuse and Recycle waste papers.
THE PROGRAM SLOGAN:
HOW CAN WE REDUCE, REUSE AND RECYCLE WASTE PAPER?
REDUCE:
I. By minimizing the uses of papers.
II. By saving online receipts in folders.
III. Using papers from the recycling bins to take notes (in offices).
REUSE:
I. Using used papers as packing facilities.
II. For ripening fruits.
III. Reusing waste papers as cleaning materials.
RECYCLE:
There are several processes used when recycling waste papers into new papers such processes are;
Stages of recycling
1. Collecting of waste papers to the recycling bin and then are separated according to their types then are washed with the soapy water so as to remove inks, plastic films, staples and glues.
2. Therefore the paper is put into a large holder where is mixed with clean water to make slurry.
3. Then the slurry is spread into a thin sheet.
4. The paper is then left to dry ready to be sent back to the market.
